Fiber Optic Attenuator Description:

 

This is an ST type attenuator, it is made of metal, both sides have a red cap to protect the ceramic sleeve from dust, water, and other damage during transportation and storage. It is the same type with FC fixed attenuator which has no ferrule inside of the attenuator. And the attenuation is 3dB, also it is a fixed type.

 

ST attenuator is used to connect with the FC connector patch cord, which is needed when the sign is too strong to affect the data. so that you will use the ST attenuator to reduce the sign, and the attenuation depends on how much insertion loss you need to reduce.

 

ST attenuator has simplex and duplex types. The simplex ST attenuator can be used for the simplex ST patch cord only, but the duplex ST attenuator can be used for two simplex ST patch cords or duplex ST patch cords.
